php is a good start. It’s structured similarly to perl. So, if you can write some programs you should be able to get going quickly. Ruby on Rails is very popular these days also. If you are looking for Windows languages, then you are looking at .Net.
Php is fun, well documented, and you can get going rapidly with it. Give it a shot!
